LabLookup Privacy Policy

LabLookup is operated by Understand My Policy, Inc., a Delaware corporation, doing business as LabLookup (“LabLookup,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
1. LabLookup is designed not to collect patient information
LabLookup is designed as a zero-PHI specimen collection reference tool.
Do not enter patient information into LabLookup. This includes patient names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, insurance IDs, diagnoses, symptoms, lab results, medication lists, clinical notes, or any other information that identifies or could reasonably identify a patient.
LabLookup does not need patient information to function.
2. Information we collect
We may collect the following information:
Information you provide
If you create an account, contact us, request access, submit feedback, or flag a correction, we may collect information such as:
- name
- email address
- organization or practice name
- practice identifiers such as an NPI number (e.g., when you look up your practice during onboarding)
- role or job title
- feedback or correction text
- communications with us
Do not include patient information in any feedback, correction, support request, or message.
Usage information
We may collect basic usage information to improve LabLookup, such as:
- pages viewed
- searches performed
- selected lab
- whether a search returned results
- clicked buttons or features
- approximate device, browser, and operating system information
- timestamps
- general location information derived from IP address, such as city or region
We use this information to understand product usage, improve search quality, identify missing tests, monitor reliability, and prioritize improvements.
Technical information
We may collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, and log data for security, debugging, analytics, and product improvement.
3. Information we do not want
We do not want patient information.
You should not enter:
- patient names
- dates of birth
- medical record numbers
- diagnoses
- symptoms
- lab results
- insurance information
- any information that identifies or could identify a patient
If we discover patient information submitted in violation of this policy, we may delete it.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide and operate LabLookup
- improve search results and product functionality
- identify missing or commonly searched tests
- review correction submissions
- communicate with users
- provide support
- monitor security and prevent abuse
- analyze aggregate usage trends
- comply with legal obligations
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal information.
We may share information with service providers that help us operate LabLookup, such as hosting providers, analytics providers, email providers, database providers, and security tools. These providers may process information on our behalf.
We may also share information if required by law, to protect our rights, to investigate abuse or security issues, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Our current service providers include authentication, payment, analytics, database, email, and hosting vendors.
6. Cookies and analytics
We may use cookies, local storage, analytics tools, or similar technologies to operate LabLookup, remember preferences, understand usage, and improve the product.
Where practical, we use analytics in a way that avoids collecting patient information and focuses on product usage.
7. Data retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate LabLookup, improve the product, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
We may retain aggregated or de-identified usage information that does not identify a user.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
LabLookup is a tool for professionals and is not intended for children under 13. Do not use LabLookup if you are under 13.
10. Your choices
You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information associated with your account or communications, subject to legal and operational limitations.
You may also choose not to create an account or not to provide optional information.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, contact support@lablookup.com.
12. Third-party links
LabLookup may link to third-party laboratory websites or other resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of LabLookup after changes means the updated policy applies.
